Color Club Sugar Plum Yum and Very Merry Berry Swatches

 I only bought three polishes from the Scent-suous Collection that Sally's put out, since at that time I was on a bit of a low buy. I do regret not getting Santa's Cinnamon, though. I didn't pick that one up because I have tons of red glitters, but I should have gotten it just for the scent. *sigh

  Anyways, I have two swatches for you today. The first one is one coat of Sugar Plum Yum over OPI Sapphire in the Snow. This one has a very sweet grape flavored scent, like grape gum. These glitters are tricky to apply because they are so chunky, but they aren't so difficult to apply that it's frustrating either.

This one is one coat of Very Merry Berry over China Glaze Little Drummer Boy. It also reminds me of gum, but just regular bubblegum flavored gum.

 I am really kicking myself for not picking up Santa's Cinnamon after smelling these, since I love the smell of cinnamon in the holidays.  I don't know think these are at Sally's anymore, but I have heard that these are just scented dupes of Color Club's Backstage Pass Collection. ^_^

POP beauty Pacific Hoot w/ Color Club Orna-Minted Jelly Sandwich

This month I am trying to get through as many untrieds as I can, but I also want to keep my posts related to the holidays. I have some old and a lot of new holiday/winter/Christmas collections to try, so expect those to be posted. I will post daily up until Christmas day and then I will go back to five times a week. It's going to be a challenge for me, but I am looking forward to it!

 I initially only wanted to use POP's Pacific Hoot as a base color for Color Club's Orna-Minted, but I had no idea Pacific Hoot was a jelly! I just had to do a jelly sandwich once I knew that Pacific Hoot was a jelly polish. Since it was a jelly polish, I used four coats to hide my visible nail line. Then, I added a coat of Orna-Minted. The glitters were a bit difficult to place evenly, but I love how chunky and shiny they are. Oh, AND this polish is scented! It smells sort of cold and very minty. It reminds me a lot of the Jack Black lip balm in Natural Mint that Eileen from The Sneakerette sent me, except this is for your nails!

This is the opposite of festive, it has more of a calming effect to me.

 I love how you can always amp up any nail polish by layering. There a gazillion and one ways to create different mani's with nail polish, and I just wish I had more time to try them all. ^_^

A Glitter and Flakie Sandwich

 I started the idea with a glitter flakie sandwich when I wore OPI's Don't Mess with OPI. This is a really beautiful almost hunter green. It only needed two coats and it was really easy to work with. Even though I had fun with this polish I thought that a little glitter would really make it pop, but it ended up just look like a Christmas Wreath! That would be cute except, we're about three months away. Don't get me wrong, I love, LOVE Christmas so much that.. umm.. I may or may not already be listening to Christmas songs when I feel down. O_o

This is a coat of Color Club Object of Envy over Don't Mess with OPI. It's a cute combo, but a little on the Christmas side.

Then I decided to add some Nubar 2010 to take the Christmas look and feel away, but then it seemed that the flakes overpowered the glitter.

Finally, I added another coat of Object of Envy and I was so happy with the final look. Just the right amount of flakes show through.

 That's my glitter and flakie sandwich! I actually tried this as well with red glitter and the flakes gave it a really awesome effect. It ended up looking AMAZING, so I will have to post that mani sometime next week.

Neon Skittles Mani with Lynnderella Connect the Dots

 Connect the Dots is a really versatile glitter that will go well with any shade of polish, which is why I had originally planned to do several mani's with different colors. However, when I brought out the colors I was planning to use, it occurred to me that it would be a lot more fun if I did a Skittles mani. I have never done one and wasn't sure what colors to start with, so I went with five polishes from Color Club's Poptastic Collection. I used Wham Pow! for the pinky, Pucci-Licious for the ring finger, Twiggie for the middle finger, Warhol for my index and Chelsea Girl for my thumb topped with one coat of Connect the Dots.

 I think Connect the Dots was a great glitter to tie the look together, without covering up the base colors. I won't talk much about this polish, since I have previously blogged about it here, but oh man is this literally the greatest glitter ever made. I am really excited that Lynnderella has decided to restock this one along with The Glittering Crowd and Snow Angel, because I just might have to pick up a few more bottles of this incredible glitter.  This is her website http://lynnderella-lynnderella.blogspot.com/, she will update it as soon as she is ready to start taking orders. Color Club's Magic Attraction with added bling!

  It's almost Wednesday, or should I say it's barely Tuesday? I know the week just started, but I can't wait for Friday because that's when I will be getting my Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday! Yay! I don't know why I get so excited about getting one of my lemmings because when I FINALLY get it, I just store it and move on to my next lemming. Anyways! On to today's glitter-fabulous post!

 I have this mani in my Random Nail Art page, but it was a camera phone picture. Most of those pictures are really small and blurryish, so I decided to redo those mani's and replace the page with something that has better quality. Not sure what it will be yet.

Even though this is made up of dense holographic glitter, it still somehow manages to be quite sheer and would be better layered over another polish. I used FIVE thin coats because I wanted the "glitter" look without a background color. I topped it off with Diamond Dry top coat, then I just picked four rhinestones an placed them on the side of the nail just below the nail line.

This picture is awesome. It really shows the way the glitter's holographicness shines.

I don't remember what happened, but it looks like I smudged the polish on my index finger. =/ 



 This is such a beautiful polish and I definitely need to buy a backup. I'm already halfway through the one I have!

Glitter Envy with Starry Temptress Top Coat

  This is the second polish I try from Color Club's Starry Temptress Collection and I have to say this one was a fail. The polish was super thick, yet it left bald spots so I had to use three coats. I couldn't get them to be thin coats and it looks like the polish is just caked on! I liked the color and I want to try it again, but first I need to buy some thinner. I can't believe I haven't bought some yet. I really need it for my Seche Vite top coat. I have six bottles that are halfway full, but they became gloopy. Instead of buying thinner, I have just been buying new bottles.

 I don't like the look of the polish on it's own, since the glitter doesn't shine, it's just there. In my opinion, if I'm going to go through the trouble of removal, it better freaking sparkle! So, I added a coat of Starry Temptress top coat. I like it much better with the top coat. It's not overly sparkly, but it has a nice effect.

I know most people find the Color Club polishes online, so you may not have the Starry Temptress top coat if you didn't buy the set. I was in Family Dollar yesterday and I found this, Sassy Sparkle by L.A. Colors from their Craze line and it's really similar to Starry Temptress. The glitter is a bit bigger on Sassy Sparkle, but it's a good option if you don't have Starry Temptress.

From the makers of Color Club: Cosmetic Arts Part 1

 I had a post lined up to be published yesterday, but when I came home from the hospital, it hadn't been published. I went ahead and published it, and when I took a look at the post, I noticed half of my post was gone! I was really upset, so I decided to just scrap the post, even though it took me about fours to work on.

 My original post was meant to showcase a few of the polishes that I have bought from the Cosmetic Arts collections. However, I was only going to provide pictures of the the the nail polish bottles, and later do swatches of the actual nail polish. Since part of my post mysteriously disappeared, I thought it would be best to go ahead and do the nail polish swatches.

 The first time I came across the Cosmetic Arts display at a Ross, I was really close to not buying them, simply because they have no names written on the bottles, but the colors were too beautiful to not purchase and they were only priced at 1.99. As I mentioned in a previous post, I did pick up three nail polishes during my first encounter with the display. Then, two weeks ago I visited a Ross, and I found the display again, but that time I had more options, so I was able to pick up five more bottles. Three days later I decided to go once more, to see if there were any left. I was able to find two lonely bottles, just waiting to be snatched up. Luckily, those were colors that I had also liked during my previous visit, so I was quite content with my find.

 After checking out their website, I was somewhat able to tell which ones I have, but I'm not entirely sure if I am correct. I have emailed Forsythe Cosmetic Group, which are also the makers of Color Club, to see if maybe they have other pictures or perhaps even swatches that they might email me. This is All the Trimmings from the Holiday Collection. Despite how opaque the color looks in the bottle, it's actually on the sheer side. It has purple duochrome, micro glitter suspended in a bluish purple base and even though it was a sheer polish, it only took two coats to get it opaque.

 

The duochrome in this polish, however, isn't strong when applied to nails. It was really difficult to try and capture the duochromeness.

Nonetheless, this polish is an amazing purple and is one of my favorite from all the Cosmetic Arts lacquers that I own.

Another one from the Holiday Collection is You Sleigh Me. This one also only took two coats and it's a slate gray shimmery base with tons of gold micro glitter. I like this color, but I don't think that it looks too great on my skintone.

The last one that I believe to be in the Holiday Collections is New Year's Ball. This is a blue frost and it took only two coats to obtain complete coverage. I thought this was going to be an interesting polish, but the streaking on this polish was as bad as China Glaze's Avalanche.

If only there was a way to get rid of streaks from frost polishes...

I have already shown this polish in a previous post, but I thought I would show it this time when it was freshly applied, instead after a few days wear. This is called Sky High from the Spring Collection. Out of all the polishes, this has the best formula.



 I do want to mention, as well, that the formula in all these polishes is a bit watery and you have to be light on the application to prevent it from running to your cuticles. I don't want to make my posts too long, so I decided to break it up into two parts. Although, I'm not a fan of some of the polishes, I am going to keep them because there is something about the bottles that I just love. When the bottles clink together they make a more sublte clink than any other nail polish I own. I know it's a bit weird for me to be commenting on the noise they make when they clink, but I have a thing for noises... I might be the only person in the world, but I also love the sound of chalk on the chalkboard.. Lol. I promise I'm not crazy. My next post will have the other six polishes that I own from Cosmetic Arts. Hope you enjoy!

All the Trimmings looks to be Equinox Fox from the Fall Collection. After doing some research, I was able to find out that All the Trimmings is actually a whole different color, GREEN! That is according to some of the other blogs out there.
