OPI 2010 Burlesque Collection:

 I had this post all set up to have it published the day I stopped blogging, but I ended up not publishing because I decided I needed to take a break. What I really needed to do was a break from polish period, but I can't help my addiction. Anywho, I don't have the entire Burlesque Collection because I didn't think I "needed" it when it came out. Yea... BIG MISTAKE. Especially on the glitters. I have been lucky to still find some of the glitters available at some stores and that's the only reason why I have any of them.

Glow Up Already is a multiglitter with gold being the dominant color. Four Coats with topcoat.

Simmer and Shimmer is a multi glitter with the blue glitter as the main color. Four coats with topcoat.

Extra-va-vaganza is a multi glitter with orangey copper glitter as the main color. Four coats with topcoat.

Show it and Glow it is a multi glitter with pink as the main color. Four coats with topcoat.

Tease-y Does It is a dark burgundy with microglitter. Two coats no topcoat.

 The only other two polishes I want from the collection is Sparkle-icious and Bring on the Bling, but I'm not sure how easy it will be to obtain either one without having to pay a high price. I have scouted them on eBay and I really don't want to pay over ten dollars for either of them. Maybe I'll get lucky and find them on a blogsale someday. ^_^

OPI Holiday Wishes 2009: Shim-Merry Chic, Holiday Glow and Sapphire in the Snow

 OPI brought out a great holiday collection in 2009, and I'm so sad I missed out since I wasn't into collecting nail polish at that time. I have only been able to acquire three of them so far, but I'm glad to at least have these in my collection. I found Shim-Merry Chic and Holiday Glow at aveyou.com for 8.50 each, but I have no idea if they are still available there. I think Sapphire in the Snow was 7.00, but I found it on a blog sale.

Shim-Merry Chic has flakes and holographic glitter in a light brown base. It's a bit similar to Sephora-212, but this is lighter and the holographic glitter is smaller. I used three coats to get full coverage.

Holiday Glow seriously glows with all the gold microglitter it has. The base is a shimmery almost chocolate brown color. I really, really loved this one. I used three coats with a coat of topcoat to bring out the glitter.

Sapphire in the Snow is almost as multi-faceted as a gem can be. Sometimes you see this color and it's a dusty navy blue and other times it comes off as a dusty dark purple. I have heard this is similar to OPI Roadhouse Blues, but I haven't compared them. I used two coats on the swatches below.

 There a few more polishes I want from this collection, but I doubt I'll ever find them as cheap as I found these three. Merry Midnight alone goes for over $20 on blogsales. Oh well, like I said I am happy to at least have these in my collection. ^_^

Color Club Sugar Plum Yum and Very Merry Berry Swatches

 I only bought three polishes from the Scent-suous Collection that Sally's put out, since at that time I was on a bit of a low buy. I do regret not getting Santa's Cinnamon, though. I didn't pick that one up because I have tons of red glitters, but I should have gotten it just for the scent. *sigh

  Anyways, I have two swatches for you today. The first one is one coat of Sugar Plum Yum over OPI Sapphire in the Snow. This one has a very sweet grape flavored scent, like grape gum. These glitters are tricky to apply because they are so chunky, but they aren't so difficult to apply that it's frustrating either.

This one is one coat of Very Merry Berry over China Glaze Little Drummer Boy. It also reminds me of gum, but just regular bubblegum flavored gum.

 I am really kicking myself for not picking up Santa's Cinnamon after smelling these, since I love the smell of cinnamon in the holidays.  I don't know think these are at Sally's anymore, but I have heard that these are just scented dupes of Color Club's Backstage Pass Collection. ^_^

OPI Muppets: Designer... De Better!

 Designer... De Better! is a champagne colored foil with orange flecks. I used three coats, but it really only needed two. I had intended for this polish to be my mani for the parent teacher conference at my son's school, but ended up taking it off. After seeing on both hands I realized it was a bit too much. My husband told me it didn't matter and that I should wear it if I wanted to, but I feel uncomfortable wearing bold colors when I have to go to his school. In the end I just switched my mani to a nude polish.

 You can see on the last picture that it looked a little gritty, but a top coat sure take care of that. I was bummed that I only wore this polish for a few hours, however I can't wait to get to wear it again. ^_^

OPI Russian Navy Suede

 OPI's suede polishes always caught my eye whenever I saw them in the store, but they didn't appeal to me enough that I needed to buy one. Well, I finally bought one a month or two ago with an Ave You deal. I was unsure of which one to pick, but figured I couldn't go wrong with blue so I picked up Russian Navy Suede. I have to say that I was impressed with the application, it wasn't at all troublesome like matte polishes tend to be. This is two coats of Russian Navy Suede.

Here I added some clear top coat.

 Overall, this is a really cool polish because you get two looks out of one single bottle! I know mattes are somewhat the same, but I feel that the finish and formula was a lot better on this suede polish. Also, it reminds me so much of denim jeans!  ^_^

Zom-Body to Love w/ Black Shatter

 Halloween is just a few days away and that means that Halloween related manicures are coming to an end as well, on my blog at least. I planned on getting more posts in for this weekend, but I decided to just trim down my nails instead of repairing them again. I thought the breaks had grown out far enough, but it turns out they didn't and my two middle fingers aren't even now. So, instead I am settling on one last mani for Monday.

 Zom-body to Love is a bright green, glow in the dark polish that OPI came out with for Halloween this year. They released it in a duo with Black Shatter and as well sold it separately. The polish is so sheer that you will not be able to achieve full coverage without layering at least five to six coats. I wanted to get the same color in the bottle, so I decided to layer it over two coats of Sally Hansen White Out. BIG MISTAKE. This polish is also streaky! I did three layers of Zom-body to Love and stopped because I didn't want to have so many layers. I would recommend that you layer this over a green, that way the streaks won't show. Even with the streaks I wanted to wear this polish alone for at least one day because the color itself had me so entranced. It reminded me a lot of Nickolodeon's goo that they always had in one show or other when I was little.

I apologize for the tip wear in this picture. I didn't take pictures right away and the tip wear happened when I was heating up some tortillas. Little tip: Don't heat up tortillas with a fresh mani.

I was barely able to capture this polish in the dark with my camera, but in real life it GLOWS!

How cool does it look with Black Shatter? I swear Black Shatter is THE BEST thing to wear for Halloween. 

 It's a little sad that October is ending, but it's ok because I can't wait to be able to start listening to Christmas music without getting weird looks from my husband. ^_^

Lynnderella All Hallow's Eve over Here Today... Aragon Tomorrow

 I was really excited when Lynnderella put up her Halloween collection up for sale and yet, I have only worn one of the polishes so far. They are all so beautiful, but there is so much polish and so little time. All Hallow's Eve actually arrived broken and it was really sad to see such a wonderful creation in pieces, but the lovely Lynn was great about quickly getting me out a replacement bottle. She didn't even charge me for shipping!

 The polish itself is a medley of various glitters. There are at least four different colored glitters and an array of shapes and sizes. I think that the reason why I am so in love with her glitters is because mostly all her glitters include square or bar glitter, which I love. You can build up the opacity on the majority of here polishes, however I prefer to layer them. It makes the surface a lot smoother and I get to save some polish. For this manicure I used three coats of Here Today... Aragon Tomorrow and two coats of All Hallow's Eve.

 As Wheezie, from Dragon Tales would say, "Looooove it!" I'm anxious to try some more manicures with my Lynnderella's. Although, it's a little sad, since I had to nubbinize my nails. I am such a doofus that I broke two more nails! I think that's two breaks too many, so I am currently rocking some nubs. ^_^

OPI Simply Smashing with Black Shatter

 Black Shatter is a polish that I have only used once, and that was when it first came out. I used it over silver and never again took it out. I feel as if I still haven't decided on the Shatter/ Crackle fad. I seem to be inclined to get any new Shatter or Crackle polishes that come out, but when I get home I either just quickly swatch it or put it away never to be taken out again. I think that it is a great idea to freshen up an existing manicure and I love looking at all the creative ways people have come up with using them. I don't know, I can't seem to part with them nor can I bring myself to wear them often enough.

 I accidentally started collecting the Serena Williams sets and Simply Smashing with the Black Shatter was the only one that I was missing, so I went ahead and decided to buy it. Simply Smashing is a really beautiful gold with a tinge of green polish. The glitter in this isn't gritty nor is it difficult to take remove. It is, however, a very thin formula. I had to use four coats to achieve full coverage. My husband wasn't too keen on this color, but I absolutely loved it! It does not remind me at all of a tennis ball, but it DOES remind of some kind of radioactive substance. This is why I decided to include it in my Halloween themed month.

Here it is with Black Shatter. One of the reason's I don't like Black Shatter is because when applied in normal long swipes, it ends up looking stringy and doesn't let much of the color underneath show. My solution to this is to apply it in short small strokes, a few sections at a time to get more of a shatter look and a less stringy look.

 The Black Shatter really adds to this look, making it feel more Halloween-ish. I will probably be using Black Shatter more often during this month because the effect is really creepy looking, perfect for Halloween. I think the best idea OPI  has had with Black Shatter was to include it with their Halloween duo, Zom-Body to Love. I can't wait to use that combo.

A Glitter and Flakie Sandwich

 I started the idea with a glitter flakie sandwich when I wore OPI's Don't Mess with OPI. This is a really beautiful almost hunter green. It only needed two coats and it was really easy to work with. Even though I had fun with this polish I thought that a little glitter would really make it pop, but it ended up just look like a Christmas Wreath! That would be cute except, we're about three months away. Don't get me wrong, I love, LOVE Christmas so much that.. umm.. I may or may not already be listening to Christmas songs when I feel down. O_o

This is a coat of Color Club Object of Envy over Don't Mess with OPI. It's a cute combo, but a little on the Christmas side.

Then I decided to add some Nubar 2010 to take the Christmas look and feel away, but then it seemed that the flakes overpowered the glitter.

Finally, I added another coat of Object of Envy and I was so happy with the final look. Just the right amount of flakes show through.

 That's my glitter and flakie sandwich! I actually tried this as well with red glitter and the flakes gave it a really awesome effect. It ended up looking AMAZING, so I will have to post that mani sometime next week.
